The Youth Department of Vista Grande began a ministry to the homeless people of Acacia Park in October, 2008. We provide over 120 sack lunch meals, usually on the second Saturday of the month.
We meet at the church at 2:45 pm to assemble the sack meals, and leave the church at 3:30 pm, returning between 5:15 and 5:30 pm. Everyone is welcome to participate, but middle school students and younger must be accompanied by a parent.
We invite you to support this ministry with cash donations (there is a box at the Youth Booth on Wednesday and Sunday) or by purchasing items from the list below when you do your regular grocery shopping.
- 120 Lunchables (snack size 2 for $3/$4 avg - the Commissary is cheaper)
- 5-6 Variety Chip Packs 22-24 count ($6 avg)
- 5 24 Count Bottled Water ($4 approximately)
- Little Debbie Treats (when on sale 10 for $10) or Cookie Assortment Packs (depends on prices)
- Large lunch sacks
We can store items in the youth office (except for the Lunchables, which need to be purchased a maximum of 2 weeks ahead and kept refrigerated). If you have any questions about this ministry opportunity, please contact David Boncler.
