In the New Testament, the Greek word "diakanos" means "minister" or "servant". Similarly, the Deacon Ministry at Vista Grande Baptist means service to God and service to the church family. The service takes many forms, ranging from assisting the Pastor with the ordinances of Baptism and the Lord's Supper, to assisting individual members by meeting spiritual, emotional, and physical needs.
The deacons offer shut-ins an opportunity to celebrate the Lord's Supper. When it is served at church, the deacons will set up a time to go to the person's residence and provide a brief worship service, including the Lord's Supper. If you know of someone who would like to have this visit, please call the church office at 719-598-2139.
The Deacon Ministry is organized around, and administered through, the Sunday School, where each class has at least one assigned deacon. If you have a ministry need, please call your class deacon, the Deacon of the Week listed in your bulletin, or the church office.
