We have a ministry opportunity in Entebbe, Uganda and the trip is tentatively planned for January 1 - 14, 2009 with an estimated cost of $2,250.00. Uganda is a landlocked country in east-central Africa, about the size of Oregon.
Most of the trip will focus on training pastors, youth leaders and doing evangelistic services in the evening. Some people will get the chance to minister in hospitals and orphanages. We can take up to 15 people on this trip. Please contact David Boncler for additional details.
How did this opportunity develop?
When David Boncler returned from Youth Camp in late June, he received an e-mail from a pastor in Uganda that was desperately reaching out for assistance. There have been a number of salvations in his country and pastors are stepping up to help lead those churches. Sadly, there is no training for these men. Pastor S. felt a huge burden in this area, and he located us on www.vgbc.org and saw that we have done similar training in Zimbabwe. He also wrote of the great needs associated with the displaced children in Uganda.
What are we doing about it?
Through much prayer, God confirmed this situation and opened the door to ministry. We now know of the IMB missionary serving alongside the people, and are finalizing details to make a trip out there in early January, 2008. Pastor S. will translate our training materials into two different languages in advance of our visit and we will target 3 different regions. Some team members will do training and others will do relational ministry in schools, orphanages, and possibly hospitals. We have a very unique opportunity for a few of us to spend the day with the Secretary to the First Lady of Uganda to discuss student ministry.
Please note that this is not a "replacement" for Zimbabwe ministry. Those who feel led to serve in Zimbabwe are encouraged to contact Lisa Williams for future trip information. We covet your prayers as we continue to work out details for this amazing opportunity. We are grateful that God has brought this to our church, and pray that our service will be a blessing to the Lord and the people of Entebbe.
