Month At A Glance - July, 2009
Dear Church Family:
VBS Worker Training begins on Wednesday, July 1, at 6:30 pm and continues for the next two Wednesdays. The Vine, our weekly worship service for young adults age 18 - 28, meets every Thursday at 7:00 pm in the north Youth Wing.
The church office will be closed on Friday, July 3, however the high school students will meet here at 4:30 pm and go see a Sky Sox game.
High school student staffers will meet at 5:00 am on Sunday, July 5, to leave for Student Life Camp in Durango. There will be a Concert of Prayer that evening at 6:00 pm.
We will host the Hoops of Hope Basketball Camp for K – 6th graders on July 6 – 10 from 6:00 - 8:30 pm. You can still register your children and the cost for five nights of fun and instruction is only $65.00. The youth will meet at Cottonwood Park at 4:30 pm on Thursday, July 9 for games, worship and fellowship led by our summer interns.
Young adults in the College and Career group will set off on their annual Mystery Road Trip on July 10-12. Middle and high school students will leave for Student Life Camp in Durango on Saturday, July 11 (be at church at 5:45 am) and will return on Wednesday, July 15.
The Men’s Ministry will hold their monthly breakfast on Saturday, July 11 with coffee and fellowship at 7:00 am and breakfast at 7:30 am. The D’Gornaz Sunday School Class will have a social at 4:30 pm in the Youth Wing.
On Sunday, July 12, the Farrington Sunday School Class will have a fellowship at 12:15 pm. The Missions and Personnel Committees will meet at 3:30 pm, followed by the Stewardship Committee at 4:00 pm.
We’ll have our VBS Carnival on Saturday, July 18 from 9:00 am – 1:00 pm. Volunteers for the carnival and snacks for VBS are always needed and appreciated! If you would like to take part in the Acacia Park Food for the Homeless Ministry, please meet at church at 3:30 pm.
The Church Operations Manual Committee will meet on Sunday, July 19 at 3:30 pm. Boomerang Express Vacation Bible School will be held July 20-24 from 5:30 – 8:30 pm, and there is something for everyone from age 4 – adult. You can sign up for 30 minute shifts to pray for our VBS teachers, students and helpers – please visit their table at the bottom of the main stairs.
Our Student Life staffers will hit the road once again on Thursday, July 23, heading to OBU, returning on Thursday, July 30.
Looking ahead, an All Church Picnic is planned for Sunday, August 2 at 5:00 pm.
