Encouraging Words NT

THE FAITH OF PARENT'S CAN GREATLY AFFECT THE LIFE OF A CHILD
by David Boncler 2/3/12

Hebrews 11:23 "By faith Moses’ parents hid him for three months after he was born, because they saw he was no ordinary child, and they were not afraid of the king’s edict."

So many stories are shared of Moses. His life. The power God displayed through him. Simply amazing!

But what of his parents? This may seem common sense, but without parents, there would be no Moses.

In that day and age, the cost was actually higher than today.

All the baby boys of the time were being killed, because Pharaoh was concerned the Hebrews would overcome his people.

Moses’ parents “saw he was no ordinary child”.

They knew something was different. Does this mean the other parents saw nothing out of the ordinary with their kids?

Not at all. But Moses’ parents knew they had to do something. They took a huge risk of faith.

It paid off. They didn’t know it would. They just knew they had to respond to what God laid on their heart.

Others may have wanted to, but they didn’t.

Let’s not worry about judging their lack of protecting their sons.

Let’s focus on what DID happen.

There was a great leap of faith.

This leap brought about a child who would grow into a man used by God to set God’s people free!

He would be used to bring forth the Word of God to the people.

He would be used to guide people to the promised land. Granted, they did not enter due to disobedience, but Moses got them close.

We do not hear much of Moses’ parents. His parent’s probably don’t mind either.

The point was not for them to have attention brought to them. The point was them being obedient.

When people base their lives on the attention they hope to receive, the results are always different.

Parents, you may have no idea what God is going to use your kids to do. As loving parents, I bet you could care less if you get attention. I bet your concern is more that your child (children) becomes exactly who they are to be, and do exactly as the plan meant for them is to be!

Do you want to be a parent someday?

Is it so you can be lifted up, or so you can have the opportunity to guide a child through this life?

To be used to impact the life of a child is such a blessing.

There are so many who help shape their lives, but none more important than the ones meant to bear the main responsibility.

You can be afraid. With the way the world is today, anything can happen.

OR--you can see the potential in the child. You can see how God can use them for amazing things!

You can see life!

Let God define what the “amazing things” are. You just trust that God ordained every one of their days with purpose!

(Even in those moments where they drive you crazy...I imagine we have driven our Heavenly Father crazy too).

Parents, you do affect your children. Don’t be afraid. Trust God, and when all is said and done, look what He has done!

Moses may get lots of glory and conversation. But even Moses had parents who had to trust.

For the sake of faith, I am so glad they did.
