Worship Ministries

WORSHIP is the first step in our process of discipleship and is usually the point of entry into our church family. Our hope is that during worship you will get reoriented to God through teaching and music that is based on the truth of His Word.
We hope you commit to worship with us regularly on Sunday mornings.
WORSHIP is the central act of the Church. At Vista Grande music is a primary tool in our worship. The purpose of music is to facilitate the people’s expression of praise and adoration. God is the God of infinite variety. In our music worship we seek to emulate that variety using resources from a large spectrum of genres to contribute to a vibrant worship experience.
We utilize songs that have stood the test of time, songs that have become standards in just the last few years, and songs that may only be for today but help us to communicate with God nevertheless. This pattern of planning enables us to worship together, across the generations, through music.
Our heart’s desire is to worship God the way He wants to be worshiped. We invite you to worship with us through music, drama, and the declaration of the Word.

Believing that we have a responsibility to raise up the next generation of worship leaders our choral opportunities begin at age 4 and continue through all ages. The children’s choir program is primarily a music education program. The Student choirs are an opportunity to hone and focus vocal skills for a life time of service in choirs and worship teams.

VGBC Orchestra
We desire to provide an opportunity for all to use their musical gifts in worship. Consequently we have opportunities for guitarists and drummers every week and for orchestral players about every other week. We also have two hand bell choirs. If you’ve take the time and spent the money to develop the skill we want you to use it to help us worship.
We currently have two ensembles that are self-sustaining. Rejoice is currently a women’s quintet. They choose their own members, rehearse weekly, and sing about once every six weeks. One Accord, the men’s octet is just that, eight men’s voices. They also choose their own members, rehearse weekly and sing two to three times each semester. We are open to supporting additional ensembles but currently these are the only two active vocal ensembles.

“A Colorado Christmas”
December, 2019
We have two primary productions each year. In the Spring the middle school drama team & Ten31 present the annual Drama Dinner Theater which gives them a chance to showcase their talents and earn money for student ministry activities and mission trips.
The Annual Christmas Dessert Theater is our other main event. Each Christmas we hope to create an “At Home” atmosphere where we enjoy one another around the tables with Christmas cookies, tea, coffee, and a great Christmas story.

Women’s Ministry

Amplifying faith, creating connections and ministering together as daughters of the King.
As women, there are so many roles we are called to:
wife, aunt, mother, employee, sister, niece, co-worker,
friend….. yet, the greatest title we can have is
daughter of the King of Kings.
At VGBC, we desire for women to worship, connect, serve and impact in a transforming way.

Through Bible study and events, women can grow in a personal relationship with Christ as they seek to worship and know Him more. Bible studies during the school year on Tuesday morning, Wednesday night and Wednesday morning. Please contact the church office for the most up-to-date information.

We try to have many different experiences and events throughout the year where women can connect with other sisters in Christ in a fun and meaningful way. From MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) meeting twice every month to the ladies’ annual tea, every woman can find a place to connect and belong.

We serve our world by collecting food donations for Mercy’s Gate, Coins For Crisis Pregnancy Centers and more. Older women influence and serve our young girls during the annual Custom Made Girls’ sleepover. You’ll see a variety of women serving our church every week. If you have a heart to serve, we’d love to help you find a special spot to use your time, gifts and talents well.

We desire to equip and encourage women to make an impact in their sphere of influence starting with Biblical hospitality at home.

Men’s Ministry

The Great Commandment: Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind…Love your neighbor as yourself. Mark 12:30, 31
The Great Commission: Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. Matt 28:19-20
Our Purpose: To help men discover how they have been uniquely called and shaped by God to live the Great Commandment and to fulfill the Great Commission in every aspect of their lives—personal, home, church, workplace, community, and world.
I look forward to our meeting together.

Prayer Ministry

Prayer Ministry

“And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests.

With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.”

Ephesians 6:18, NIV

We want to be known in our community as a house of prayer. We believe that prayer is not only powerful, but essential in our lives; both individually and corporately.
This ministry seeks to meet needs by sharing through prayer the joys, praises and concerns of daily living. We believe we receive comfort, strength, encouragement and spiritual growth through an intimate relationship with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. If you would like to know more about accepting Jesus into your life, we would be delighted to share with you.
If you have a prayer need or request, we would like to pray for you. You may submit your request by one of the following:
  • perforated prayer request form in the worship bulletin
  • contact our staff by phone at 719-598-2139
Prayer requests are handled according to your choice of confidentiality. Some requests are shared in Sunday School, which will allow class members to intercede on a personal level. Those of an urgent nature are e-mailed to Ministry Staff and the Deacon Body. If requested, an abbreviated form of your request is placed in the Prayer Matters handout and made available to the congregation each Sunday morning in the Brochure Rack. Prayer requests will remain on the list for up to four weeks. If the status of the request changes, the time will be extended.
Copies are also placed in the Prayer Chapel located in the downstairs foyer area. The Prayer Chapel is open and available to all whenever the church is open.
Prayer Groups
The Prayer Chapel on the lower level is available whenever the building is open. Please take advantage of this peaceful place to come and pray.
Prayer Matters is updated weekly and available every Sunday morning in the foyer.

Operation Christmas Child

 Good News. Great Joy
Operation Christmas Child (OCC) is a project of Samaritan’s Purse and is the largest Christmas project in the world.  OCC brings joy and hope to children in desperate situations around the world through gift-filled shoeboxes and the Good News of God’s love.  People of all ages can be involved in this simple, hands-on missions project while focusing on the true meaning of Christmas: Jesus Christ. The OCC Collection Center Team coordinates volunteers from all around Colorado Springs and the surrounding areas to deliver thousands of filled shoeboxes to the Collection Center (within VGBC).  Members are encouraged to bring both empty shoeboxes to be filled and filled shoeboxes.

What is MOPS?
We believe that incubating hearts and giving just-because-hugs can change the course of history. That’s why we connect moms all over the world to a community of women, in their own neighborhoods, who meet together to laugh, cry and embrace the journey of motherhood. MOPS groups are rallying women to be more honest, to feel more equipped and to find our identity by journeying alongside one another.
MOPS stands for Mothers of Preschoolers, and by preschoolers we mean kiddos from birth through kindergarten. We know it’s a little confusing so let’s just stick with “MOPS.”
We are moms, and we believe that better moms make a better world.
