Men’s Ministry

Welcome to the VGBC webpage for our men’s Ministry

Purpose

To present every man “perfect in Christ” in accordance with Colossians 1:28 which states as follows: “Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus” KJV
We do this by seeking to engage our men for the purpose of forming meaningful relationships with other men.

VGBC F.A.I.T.H.Riders Motorcycle Ministry Group Ride
7 riders, 244 miles, 8 hours

Our ride this day was mostly spectacular, but it didn’t start out that way. Climbing up towards Monument on Highway 83, a cold 41° fog thickened until only two bikes ahead were visible until after we were north of Larkspur.

We had seven riders this day with Paul Brandenstein leading as road captain. The George’s joined us as first time group riders, along with a fellow F.A.I.T.H.Rider from Tennessee named Jonesy, so the ride was distinctive in several ways.

By the time we reached Deer Creek Park, the temp thankfully rose to 50° and we now had a comfortable ride into the mountains.

The goal was then to make our way across Hwy 285 to Kenosha Pass. The Aspen Grove Scenic Overlook has an exceptional view of the fall colors, as can be seen in the gallery photos.

By this time, one motorcycle began sputtering, possibly because of the altitude at 9800 feet, electrical issues, or both. This limited our ride speed remaining to 60mph since the sputtering would continue in fifth gear. We made our way to Fairplay for a gas stop, then proceeded back to Jackson to head down Hwy 77 and Tarryall Rd. This was also a gorgeous ride with big boulders, awesome mountain ranges, and valleys with rivers running through.

We stopped at Fat BBQ Shack in Lake George for a lunch, which all said was delicious, highly recommended.

Returning home, we ran into hail, but were back on the road in 20 minutes.

Thank you to each rider for making this day a success. All glory to God for the creation we each experienced along the way.

Tech Ministry

Did you know it takes a crew of seven in the background to run church services on Sunday morning? The tech crew is responsible for sound, lights, cameras, on-screen lyrics and live streaming. We are always looking for more people to join our team — no experience is required as training will be provided! Our ages range from 8yrs to 75 and our backgrounds is everything from kiddos to sound professionals to teachers to ex-military to students. Contact Danielle Doyle at church office if interested in volunteering, and click the titles to learn more about each available position!

This person works under the direction of the director to set cameras 1, 2 or 3 in desired spots. Will learn how to operate the camera controller, how to move and zoom smoothly and how to quickly follow directions. Will learn to be familiar with camera terminology and placement.

This person is responsible for running the screen for the live-stream – the bible verses, nametags and song lyrics. Will learn how to operate Proclaim.

These people are responsible for listening to and fixing sound levels of the music and speaking.  Will learn to operate the mixer. Cues for upstairs mixer will be completed for you before each Sunday service.

This person is responsible for running the screen for in-house worship – the bible verses, and song lyrics. This person also controls what the wing monitors see – either lyrics or cameras
Light Operators

This person is responsible for providing adequate lighting on the stage for the musicians, baptisms and the choir. Will learn how to change lighting scenes and adjust as needed.

This person should be very familiar with how the stream should look. Responsible for switching camera shots and proclaim, as well as keying nametags and lyrics

This person is the POC of all positions and Pastor Jay. Turns on all equipment beforehand, sets up the stream and watches over all positions to ensure service and streaming quality. Will be on headset and paying attention to everything if something goes wrong.

Worship Ministries

WORSHIP
WORSHIP is the first step in our process of discipleship and is usually the point of entry into our church family. Our hope is that during worship you will get reoriented to God through teaching and music that is based on the truth of His Word.

We hope you commit to worship with us regularly on Sunday mornings.
WORSHIP is the central act of the church. At Vista Grande, music is a primary tool in our worship. The purpose of music is to facilitate the people’s expression of praise and adoration. God is the God of infinite variety. In our music worship, we seek to emulate that variety using resources from a large spectrum of genres to contribute to a vibrant worship experience.

We utilize songs that have stood the test of time, songs that have become standards in just the last few years, and songs that may only be for today but help us to communicate with God nevertheless. This pattern of planning enables us to worship together, across the generations, through music.

Our heart’s desire is to worship God the way He wants to be worshiped. We invite you to worship with us through music, drama, and the declaration of the Word.

 Choirs

Believing that we have a responsibility to raise up the next generation of worship leaders, our choral opportunities begin at age four and continue through all ages. The children’s choir program is primarily a music education program. The student choirs are an opportunity to hone and focus vocal skills for a lifetime of service in choirs and worship teams.

We desire to provide an opportunity for all to use their musical gifts in worship. Consequently we have opportunities for guitarists and drummers every week and for orchestral players about every other week. We also have two handbell choirs. If you’ve take the time and spent the money to develop the skill, we want you to use it to  worship.

Ensembles

We currently have two ensembles that are self sustaining. Rejoice is a women’s quintet. They choose their own members, rehearse weekly, and sing about once every six weeks. The men’s octet, is just that, eight men’s voices. They also choose their own members, rehearse weekly, and sing two to three times each semester. We are open to supporting additional ensembles but currently these are the only two active vocal ensembles.

Women’s Ministry

As women, there are so many roles we are called to:
wife, aunt, mother, employee, sister, niece, co-worker,
friend….. yet, the greatest title we can have is
daughter of the King of Kings.

At VGBC, we desire for women to worship, connect, serve, and impact in a transforming way.

WORSHIP

Through Bible study and events, women can grow in a personal relationship with Christ as they seek to worship and know Him more. Bible studies during the school year.

CONNECT

We try to have many different experiences and events throughout the year where women can connect with other sisters in Christ in a fun and meaningful way.

SERVE

We serve our world by collecting food donations for Mercy’s Gate, Coins for Crisis Pregnancy Centers, and more. You’ll see a variety of women serving our church every week. If you have a heart to serve, we’d love to help you find a special spot to use your time, gifts, and talents well.

IMPACT

We desire to equip and encourage women to make an impact in their sphere of influence starting with Biblical hospitality at home.

Prayer Ministry

Prayer Ministry

“And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests.

With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.”

Ephesians 6:18, NIV

We want to be known in our community as a house of prayer. We believe that prayer is not only powerful, but essential in our lives; both individually and corporately.

This ministry seeks to meet needs by sharing through prayer the joys, praises, and concerns of daily living. We believe we receive comfort, strength, encouragement, and spiritual growth through an intimate relationship with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. If you would like to know more about accepting Jesus into your life, we would be delighted to share with you.

If you have a prayer need or request, we would like to pray for you. You may submit your request by one of the following:
  • perforated prayer request form in the worship bulletin
  • contact our staff by phone at 719-598-2139

Prayer requests are handled according to your choice of confidentiality. Some requests are shared in Sunday School, which will allow class members to intercede on a personal level. Those of an urgent nature are e-mailed to Ministry Staff and the Deacon Body. If requested, an abbreviated form of your request is placed in the Prayer Matters email and made available to the deacons and staff. Prayer requests will remain on the list for up to four weeks. If the status of the request changes, the time will be extended.

If you wish to receive an email copy, please contact Jan Giles.
