Zephaniah
In this sermon we learn that God is both severe and kind.  Even though we see both of these attributes of God throughout the Bible, we rarely think about how they relate.  We are encouraged to consider both so that we experience the kindness of God and avoid His severity.

    3 Responses to the Resurrection
    Series: Specials
In this sermon, we look at three common responses to the resurrection that we see from people in John 20 and we continue to see from people today.  We interact with the person who is skeptical, the person who believes superficially, and the person who is shocked.  We discover why we should believe in the resurrection and why this event is central to our faith.

    Zechariah
In this unique sermon, we look at several verses from Zechariah where he speaks about a coming Messiah King.  We also look at several texts from the New Testament and we see how the passages from Zechariah are fulfilled by Jesus.  We are encouraged as we see the consistency of God’s Word and the significance of the last week of Jesus’ life before his death and resurrection.

We learn from this sermon how to think about evil and how to live in the world that is marked by evil.  We talk about how Christianity provides the most satisfying explanation to this problem.  We discover God will one day put an end to evil, and we talk about how this will be bad news for many and good news for those who respond correctly.

Of all the prophets, we are probably most familiar with Jonah.  We like this book because it is a fascinating story, but our familiarity can prevent us from hearing the message.  We learn God wants His people to make Him known.  We discover several reasons why we don’t and why we should.

    Obadiah
Obadiah is the shortest book in the Old Testament, yet it still has a significant message for us. We know God is sovereign, but we learn from this book what to do when it doesn’t seem like God is in control. We are called to trust His Word, trust His ways, and trust His timing.

As we look at Joel, we discover the prophets have a clear message their audiences would have understood.  The prophets are more like preachers and less like fortune tellers.  The book of Joel has a simple message with three key elements: judgment, repentance, and salvation.  We need to return to this same simple message today!

We look at this challenging book, and discover God’s love is greater than our love.  We see how God’s love is unique, jealous, satisfying, affectionate, sacrificial, and relentless.  We talk about some of our love songs, and how God’s love is greater than even our greatest love songs!
