Knowing Jesus as the Word

In John 1 we discover our problem is that, left to ourselves, we don’t know God and we can’t know Him. The good news is that God has made Himself knowable to us. However, John tells us Jesus is the way we come to know God. We discover why Jesus is essential for knowing God.

Just as Jonah cannot escape God, neither can we. This thought is both humbling and encouraging. We also learn He is in control of all things. Like Jonah, we often affirm this truth but we don’t live like it. The good news is that God is gracious and He sends someone greater than Jonah.
