Kindergarten-2nd Grade

Sparks, the Awana club for children in kindergarten through second grade, builds on the material taught in our Cubbies club. Our focus is to take youngsters a step deeper into God’s Word and allow them to hear the gospel and come to faith in Jesus Christ. After being immersed in solid foundational teaching, boys and girls frequently come to an understanding of their need to trust Christ as their personal Savior while in Sparks.

Our three-year Sparks program allows clubbers to have

  1. Basic truths about God, Jesus Christ, salvation, and the Bible
  2. An increased emphasis on Scripture memory
  3. Potential to learn and review approximately 68 verses
  4. Receive clear and consistent presentation of the gospel message

For students who want to continue in the AWANA program or perhaps work toward their Citation Award (the highest award in AWANA that comes with college scholarship opportunities), Vista Grande Baptist Church offers Trek and Journey studies for Middle and High School aged students who want to go deeper into the Word and what it means to be a lifelong disciple of Jesus Christ. Trek and Journey kids dig deep into the Word developing an understanding of what it means to be a disciple and how to live that out through Bible study, Scripture memory, application, service and evangelism, as well as the sound doctrine that will help them keep and defend the faith as they grow. Sounds very serious, but we also have a lot of fun along the way!
