Year End AWANA Report

We finished up the year with our annual Awards Night on May 6.  It was a great time as we presented awards to the clubbers and looked back over the year with a slide show presentation.  We averaged 166 clubbers and 46 leaders over our 2008-2009 year.

We are currently working on the 2009-2010 calendar, which will begin on August 19.  Twenty-seven leaders have already committed to serving next year, with more still needed, especially in our Sparks (K-2nd grade) and T&T Girls (3rd-6th grade).  Please please e-mail us if you are interested in serving.

SparksAwana is an international, Bible-centered children's and youth ministry providing local churches with weekly clubs and programs for preschool through high school. Our goal is to reach children and teenagers, and their families, with the gospel of Christ and train them to serve Him. The acronym Awana comes from the first letters of Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed, taken from 2 Timothy 2:15.

Truth & Training ClubsAwana meets every Wednesday night during the school year from 6:15 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.  Awana balances games with scripture memory and scripture related activities to provide an entertaining, yet instructive 90 minutes for children and youth.  At VGBC we have incorporated a Missions Education emphasis through Awana by participating in various mission projects throughout the year.  These mission projects are optional for every clubber and they do not change the Awana curriculum in any way.

At VGBC we have the following programs in place (click links for more detail about each club):

Cubbies
Girls and Boys age four (one year before entering Kindergarten)
Sparks
Girls and Boys in Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grades
Truth and Training Clubs
Girls and Boys 3rd - 6th grades
24-7 Youth
The complete program is now available for 7th - 12th grades.
