In this passage we learn that God advances His kingdom through judgment. We often don’t think about this biblical teaching, but we discover why we should rejoice in God’s judgment and what difference this makes for us today. We also see several ways this passage points us to Christ and why this makes us desire God’s judgments.

First, God’s kingdom brings hope to the hopeless. Hannah’s hopelessness is a picture of Israel’s spiritual barrenness and she is a picture of our need. The good news is that God delights in bringing hope to us in our desperation. Second, we learn God’s kingdom brings honor to the humble. Hannah is a picture of humility that God honors, and we discover how this story points us to the ultimate example of humility.
