Knowing Jesus as the Word
In John 1 we discover our problem is that, left to ourselves, we don’t know God and we can’t know Him.  The good news is that God has made Himself knowable to us.  However, John tells us Jesus is the way we come to know God.  We discover why Jesus is essential for knowing God.

    The Christmas Spirit
In this Christmas Day sermon, we look at Luke’s account of Christ’s birth. Throughout the sermon series, we have been talking about the particular spirit of Christmas we see in each text. Now we discover how we see each Christmas spirit in this text: humility, joy, peace, and love. Since God has given His Son, we are encouraged to practice each of these characteristics throughout the year.

    The Christmas Spirit – Joy
The Christmas spirit we see in this text is joy. We are commanded in scripture to rejoice always, and God’s desire is that we live a life full of joy. How can we live a life full of joy when we are so often consumed by busyness, stress, worry, doubts, loneliness, brokenness, and overwhelming burdens? We learn our joy is made complete in Jesus through fellowship with God and fellowship with other followers of Christ.

    The Christmas Spirit – Love
We learn that the true spirit of Christmas involves love. We see God’s love for us in the birth of His Son. We also see the proof of God’s love for us through His Son’s death. Just as God has loved us in a sacrificial way, so we should love one another. In fact, John says if we don’t love one another in this way we haven’t really experienced God’s love. We learn how and why we should practice this Christmas spirit of love.

    The Christmas Spirit: Humility
The Christmas spirit we see in this important text is humility. Even though He was equal with God, Jesus willingly humbled Himself. We explore what it means that He “emptied” Himself, and we discover the true wonder of Christmas. The main point of this text is that we practice this spirit of humility. We learn what true humility involves and how to get motivated to reflect the humility we see in the Christmas story.

Should I Not Pity that Great City, Colorado Springs?
In Jonah 4, we discover that we should be gracious toward others since God has been gracious toward us. We learn from Jonah that there is a "problem" with God’s grace as we often want to see people experience God’s justice while we want to experience His grace. We learn how our hearts can be changed to reflect God’s heart for Colorado Springs and all people.

    God is Patient
As we see God’s patience toward Jonah, we are reminded that God is patient with His people. We are motivated to faithfulness and to be patient with one another. As we see God’s patience toward Nineveh, we are reminded that God is patient with all people. While the cross reveals God is willing to forgive the most undeserving people, we also discover that God’s patience won’t last forever.

This sermon was preached on the eve of the 2016 presidential election. How should Christians think about politics? Some think there are certain controversial issues such as politics that Christians should avoid. On the other hand, some think the solution to all our problems is found through political involvement. To help answer these difficult issues, we go to God’s Word and discover several timeless principles for how Christians should think about the relationship between the church and the state.

    Foundations of the Faith
    Series: Specials
On October 31, 1517, Martin Luther nailed 95 theses to the church door in Wittenberg, Germany and effectively began the Protestant Reformation. 499 years later, we still celebrate and experience the benefits of that Reformation which helped restore the church to the foundational teachings of the Bible. In this sermon, we talk about the most significant principles that were reintroduced by Luther and the other Reformers: Scripture Alone, Grace Alone, Faith Alone, Christ Alone, and God’s Glory Alone.
